Looks stunning, really love the style and colours. I haven't seen watercolours used in such a bold way, many people tend to keep the washed out colour. So this is realy wonderful to see. The warmth of the image is really lovely, especially on such a cold night as tonight.
Welcome. Just takes practice, maybe try using the acrylics as water colours. Can work just as well (though slightly different) and dries faster, I do that when I can't find my water colours and it is a good way to figure out water colours too.
It was done on a 12x18 sheet of watercolor paper. I have always been against using watercolors alone, because of the "you have to start with the lighter colors and work your way up" thing..... but my watercolor set had white in it. So, I used them like how I would use acrylics. It was a lot of fun, and I think I learned a lot about the medium!
Hah, when I was being taught watercolors my teacher specifically wanted us not to use white. I did on future projects however, and its a big help.
Whatever your technique, it seems to have worked very well. Size helps too, 12x18 is much larger than any of the watercolors I ever did, and with traditional painting in general I have to work very large.
